W7HEN the citizens of Christchurch " • 'decided to give Dr. G. J. Blackmore a public farewell m Victoria Sc[iiare : , even those who thought they knew the psychology of the Christchurch citizen never dreamt of the wonderful enthusiasm which would characterise the gathering. \ Naturally, they expected the guest •of the, evening to receive an ovation — ( but what .an ovation! It was a triumph! And very few men enter the honorable" state of retirement with the enthusiastic' cheers of their admirers ringing m their ears. ' Doctor Blackmore is how retired. This genial, kindly gentleman who has applied his wonderful knowledge 1 of tuberculosis to the relief of the ■ suffering is 'now enjoying the leisure to which he is justly entitled, and he takes; with him the best wishes of all.
