So it was that somebody m the locality thought it advisable to let the police know something about what was going on, and a telephone message to Dunedin brought out a couple of constables. Henderson and his companion were arrested, each being charged with being- drunk m charge, of their respective vehicles. "This young man did not go into hotels for the purpose of getting drink; he got drunk on liquor which came to him on the road, as it were," stated Mr. A. C. Hanlon, on behalf of Henderson, after entering a plea of guilty. A fine of £3/7/6 (including 7/6 cab hire) was attached to the conviction. An account of how Henderson's friend fared m his brush with the law must 'be held over pending certain court procedure.
