BOOMED HIM
And He Should Lite ■Up To' It (From "N.Z. Truth's" Auckland Rep.) It does not take some horses long to get m the boom. One of these is • Haita, three-year-old, hailing from Avond.ale. DUMORS were afloat prior to Rotorua that Haita had been responsible for a speedy sprint at Avondale, and this leaked out to such extent that stay-at-home punters almost knocked the wool-merchants, over m their efforts to get set. Few were awake at Rotorua itself until Haita sprinted rather attractively on the morning of the race. Then the game was up so far as getting a .price was concerned, for Cathro's gejding was made favorite. . Those who knew nothing of his track promise could hardly fail to be attracted by the horse's appearance. He looked a gentleman when stripped, and if he does not turn out a fair winner then "N.Z. Truth" will be among those disappointed. Like all horses he will do better with more experience and racirig, and as he actually finished up m third place m the Waimunga, there seeihs plenty of hope that he will yet make good and prove w*orthy of the last-minute boom which ' surrounded him at Rotorua.
