"3 AS Calling"

•"THERE is a new kind of wireless en--1 thusiast growing up. He is known

as the short wave experimenter and to-day, he is m exactly the same position as the wireless amateur of twelve years ago.

Commercialism has not yet swamped the. short wave field — for. the simple reason that it is stiil experimental. Therefore,- we find that the short wave enthusiasts are a band of brothers.

To meet a genuine, dyed m the wool short wave expert, you must go to Hills Road, Christchurch, and dig out Laugensen. You ■will find him knee deep m rheostats while around him skip and frisk a number of tame variometers, ballast resistors and the like.

Laugensen is the proud owner of station ZL.3AS, an amateur outfit -that is well-known up and about the higher reaches of the air. He has mastered the gentle art of being quite human. The beginner never asks for help or advice m vairi from the genial Laugensen.

It is to experimenters of this type that we owe the development of more things than wireless alone..
