LAW TO MOTORS

For a country that is purely a distributing unit m the motor trade, New Zealand has done well for the number of companies it has reared entirely on a sales business.

DRINCIPAL among the notabilities m 1 these all-New Zealand companies, financed entirely with New Zealand money and managed by New . Zea-. landers for New Zealanders,. is A. H. Anthony, chief cog upon whom rotates the organization of Nash New Zealand Motors, Limited. A little more than a decade ago, A. H. Anthony was a practising solicitor i n Christchurch, and his interest m the motor trade was ignited by his then partner, Lawyer Russell, and m 1912 he was given 'an interest m, N.Z. Automobiles, Ltd. The motor importation business, which was then m its infancy, and was only a side line, shortly superseded the legal interests of A.H.A., and the closing of the practice of Russell and Anthony, when the latter joined the expeditionary forces, marks the switch over from law to commerce for both the partners. It was on the eve of crossing the Rhine with the army of occupation that Driver .A. H' Anthony, of the sth and 15th Batteries, received cabled advice from his partner that they would m future guide the fortunes of Nash cars m New Zealand, find on his repatriation he put his back into the motor business with ultimate results which speak for themselves. The legally trained mind, the commercial instinct, and the appreciation of a square deal are virtues which vaporise into the likeable mixture which motor dealers and motor users throughout the country know as A. H. Anthony.
