A STIMULUS
Harbor Swim At ' Dunedin (From "N.Z. Truth's" Dunedin Rep.) As a stimulus to distance swimming m Dunedin the Batt Cup annual harbor race may be said to have achieved its object m its second year. HP the 21 entrants, three of whom • . were girls, 13 finished the 1% miles course, and none of the ladies was among the "drop-outs." A feature of the race which may be of interest to aspiring Cook-Strait-ists was the number of competitors who plastered themselves with grease. Yet, most of those who finished strongly were but lightly treated with oils. An experienced distance swimmer assures "Truth" that unless the body • is trained up to a. natural endurance of the cold, all the grease m a, ship's engine-room is no more use ■■ than a ballet-girl's powder box.
