The efforts of two young Dunedinites to reduce one or two New Zealand swimming records met success at the Kiwi Swimming Club's Carnival last Thursday. riFTBEN- YEARS- OLD ' Maxiene Mathieson, Otago's intermediate girls' breast-stroke and free-style champion, clipped three-fifths of a second off the existing intermediate girl's 75 yards record' of 1 mm. 6 2-"5 sees., established by Miss D. Breward, of Christchurch. ■ The now well-known Reggie Geddes, who, at twelve years of age, holds the N.Z. record fpr junior boys breaststroke, knocked *"s. 2-5 seconds off G. Boyd's (Wanganui), 75 yards freshwater time of lmin. 6 2-5 sees. He' also beat young; Leslie Old's time of lmin.. 2 1-5 sees. -for salt-water by 1 1-5 seconds. ;
