But They Have Hack Status (From "N.Z. Truth's" Special Auckland Rep.) , What may be classed open events, though carrying only hack • stakes, are the Railway and Wal-ton-Handicaps at M&tamata. THE Railway is the six furlong sprint „ \of moderate class. Macroom's second day form at Takapuna may , throw some light on her prospects. At present it looks as though Town Bird's beginning powers give him his great chance this season, while Takatuma and Leitrim are both likely to give it a shake. : New Moon is an m and out customer, while Atopai and Katerina. both have pace. The last named may throw out indications from Takapuna, but it really seems that Town Bird and Takatuma are the main hopes.
