A HOT TRIAL
Gknstar Before Takapuna (From "N.Z. Truth's" Auckland Rep.) For a hack to run down five furlongs m the vicinity of 1.1, is a bit rich. VET that is what Glenstar was re- ■*■ ported to have . done at Te Aroha prior to pouncing upon Takapuna for stake-money. He had previously given indications that he would .be better suited m a nine-furlong event than over seven, yet his party preferred to. take on the shorter distance Ferry Handicap of opening day. , There was wisdom m it, too, as matters panned out. He won the seven and paid a much greater price than he would had he been reserved for the longer distance. There was just the chance that he might have struck a snag m Tidal m the Hauraki Hack. Glenstar has a little bit of solid formation to come and go* on and is expected to make a decent sort of hurdle performer when put to that game later on. Still, if he really did run 1.1 In his trial for Takapuna, there would seem to be hopeful prospects ahead . of him still paying his way on the flat. He is framed to be suited m the welter class, so keep the six-year-old son of Day Comet — Glen Albyn mare strictly m mind from now on. Trainer George Reid is m charge of the gelding.
