Handy Fixture In Waikato
(From "N.Z. Truth's" Auckland Rep.) Two light- harness events are decided each year at the non-tote Ngaruawahia meeting. TT is a Handy fixture for the poor •V trottinß m the Waikato to try them-* solves out and last Saturday a few of them. gave- it a pop. It took Singlemint 3.52 to run a mile and a-half, while Joe Aspro, an Australian importation, slipped into third place when giving away 228 yds. — some start. -'•'. He has not had-" -much' racing since coming to Auckland, though he has a decent "Aussie" reputation. Whether he will get m a place at a bigger meeting remains to be seen, but sports will want to see a little more of him to prove if he is fair dlnkum. Lady Linda, Lady Somerset and Regret filled the places m a two-mile heat taking the winner 5.14 2/5. At least the Ngaruawahia Club provides amateurs with the opportunity of driving their charges themselves and getting into a place as weil. Native Prince ia not a genuine two.miler. Neither is Tom Thumb.
