WHICH IS THE BEST ?
Suggested Match For The Crack Two-Year-Olcb
(Prom ''N.Z. Truth's" Special Auckland Eepresentative). It would be great if the question could be finally decided as to which is the crack juvenile of the year, and' there is a way t»f deciding the point if all parties are as willing as tihe connections of Supremacy.
OPINIONS • certainly differ as to which is the "crack," and mainly because of the failure of Supremacy and Ceremony to get under way as speedily as Honour from the start of the Royal Stakes at Ellerslie. They were thus hardly favored as much when it came to battling out the concluding stages of six furlongs as Canterbury's crack juvenile, Honour —the winner. This all means that anything m the IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIUIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIH
nature of real glamour is missing from Honour's victory, and. therefore racing enthusiasts would prefer another meeting between the best only at even poundage over 11 six furlongs to finally decide the point. So far as the connections ,of Supremacy are concerned, "Truth"! has it from Trainer Bill Stone that they will relish a triangular contest between Supremacy, Honour and Ceremony at Ellerslie m the autumn, provided, the A.R.C. are privileged to see eye to eye with the suggestion, and can arrange matters. The suggestion from Supremacy's trainer is- that the owners of the trio named all subsidize the triangular contest by; £500 each, the club also to provide £500, and the winner to take the. lot — £2000. So far as the Supremacy connections are concerned, the .£soo 'is m readiness. In fact, Trainer Stone informs "Truth" they are keen to prove beyond all doubt that Supremacy ,is the real thing. Stone's suggestion is that if such a triangular bout can be arranged, it take place on the opening day of the autumn meeting, and that the £ 1500 Great Northern Champagne Stakes, m which all three are still engaged, be put off till the second .day.''/ ' It is no idle boast so far as the Supremacy people are concerned; They are pot entirely,' satisfied with the Royal Stakes, and by hoping to prove that theirs is the best juvenile, they are prepared to back up their, belief by staking £500 to finally decide the matter. As matters, stand at -present, no definite opinions can really be approved, even ; though Supremacy . did give both Honour and Ceremony a start and a trouncing at weight-for-age m the G.N. Foal Stakes. , That was under damp conditions, which .probably .favored the Te Awamutu juvenile. \ v. i-What is wanted is a, test ,on firm going between the trio only, with no others m the field, to mar the pros-, pects of an even despatch. . , /; ■ "Truth*: knows -■ that, even if the owners concerned are prepared, to enter into the scheme, the ' A.R.C. have still to be corisideredt but the northern heads may' be .'. relied-, upon to enter I into, the proposal, seeing that it should prove a great attraction. ' Any further attempt 'to bring, the trio together, if such can be permitted; i must necessarily come about by the ' efforts of the A.R.C.
