Hankies
IT was a sudden stroke * of genius that turned the hanky, which had been purely a sports accessory, into an afternoon and evening affair. Formalised, it makes its appearance with dinner and dance frocks and with frilly afternoon gowns. On the right is shown a black lace evening gown, with simple lines, finished at the shoulders with a sequin-sewn black net handkerchief, tied m the ordinary sports fashion. It harmonises with the costume, and with the diamante buckle, which is the frock's sole adornment. Seeing its suitability and charm, women have made it their business to have those detachable handkerchiefs, m appropriate materials, made for their frocks. The scarf as a hat trimming is qn old idea, but this summer revives it m all its glory of brilliant coloring and supple weave. The charm of simplicity is shown m the example on this page.
