TO KEMPTON

Victory In Rowe Cup

(From "N.Z. Truth's" Auckland Rep.) Kempton showed them how to do it m the Rowe Cup, but there was nothing out of the ordinary about his victory. HRIVER DONALD did not hustle him, ■ letting Napland 'set the pace at one stage and Tiger Salve at another.' It was not until they came m sight of the half-mile that Kempton went to the front and commencing on the final quarter he opened a gap. r^e had two lengths to spare from Ngatira at ■ the death and Elzear coming fast was a half a length away third. Had Young Blake begun correctly he would have been tough and even though he was stopped nearing the finish he was close up. fifth. He made amends by winning the Epsom Trot on the second day, but as he had failed earlier m the Christmas Handicap his victory was not over popular with a section of the outside public.
