Cherry Ripe Owner Question (From "N.Z. Truth's" Auckland Rep.) Just when most racing .enthusiasts inclined to the belief that the last had been heard of the Cherry Ripe ownership, enquiry, it 'came as a shock- to learn that Dr. Murphy had been disqualified-for five "years "m connection with the - affair. THERE are two sides to every question, but m the- light of certain ( happenings some months ago, it was not entirely surprising that the racing authorities treated the matter as they did. They were practically forced to the belief that some sort of a partnership existed between a late bookmaker and the medico concerning Cherry Ripe. As such partnership' was a \ breach of the rules of racing, the 'appeal made by Racecourse Inspector Cullen against the finding of the A.R.C. m the matter was up* held. Cherry Ripe did some- racing m New Zealand and Australia m Dr. Murphy's name, and more than paid his>Avay on the turf. The deciding factor m the case A\-as evidently that -no. recognized bookmaker .can own: or bo connected with the racing of a horse m the Dominion.
