ALWAYS LIGHT
Miss Pat Manages To Hold Own 1 . The ways of the handicapper are always hard to follow and always will be. T AST- season more than ence trainers " and owners asked "N.Z. Truth" to give ap explanaticn pf the favorable treatment ■' accorded te •/ "the -Foxton sprinter," Miss Pat. None could be offered and it had to be admitted that- the Ally 'was getting all the best of the figures. She won lier races m more than her turn, yet / never at any stage did she go up a great deal m poundage. Then when she. did get. to the heavily weighted, division one or two failures brought her down into the middle of the' handicap, All this flashed through the mind at Marton ,on New Year's Day when ,Miss -Pat turned into the straight just, behind the leaders. To anyone with half an eye it was easy to see what was going to happen and happen it did. The Foxton filly just buried the rest over the flnal furlong and it was a shame to take the money. The strange part about it is that every -time Miss Pat succeeds it is at a good price. There is never any skimpy dividend to collect .
