ELUSIVE?
Weismuller's Trip Cancelled (From "N.Z. Truth's" Christchurch Rep.) They say there's luck m numbers, but this does not apply to elusive Johnny Weismuller, whose third prospective trip to New Zealand has blown into thin air. AFTER offering the New Zealand Council a tour by Weismuller, the Australian Swimming Union could not give any definite information regarding Weismuller's whereabouts. They even didn't know if he was on the boat he was supposed to be travelling by, and, failing any satisfactory arrangements being made, the New Zealand Council reluctantly, but wisely, cancelled its tentative arrangements. It would appear that the Council's wisest policy m future would be to arrange its , own importing. • x It has sufficient money to guarantee a tour by some of the world's best swimmers, and as other branches of .sport are finding international visits of value, the swimming council should kee,p this matter m view. It may be too late to get anyone further than Australia this year, but early arrangements could -be made for a tour next season.
