Merry Damon Is Heard Of As a. two-year-old Merry Damon was a particularly useful sort of horse. AT an Auckland Cup meeting: fie won , three races m succession, and the fourth day he was beaten a neck, carrying 9.7, by Gold Acre. He won only one more race that season — at Ohinemuri, lumping 10.3. The carrying of big loads as a baby must have left its effect, for from then on Merry Damon has failed consistently. A few months back he went to Bill Griffith at Hastings, and he first showed out by winning a sprint at Napier and paying a big price. ( Last week at Feildingr he won two races and won them m easy fashion. The big handicap the second day was no race for him, and he will win m similar class over the holidays.
