Dunedin's Neptune
NO barnacles are likely l - to take growth on the keel of the Otago Centre Amateur Swimming Association while John Leslie Mclndoe is president — that's why he was pushed back into the chair when officers were elected at the beginning of this season. "Live-wire" is too prosaic a title for J.L.McL, for when it comes to swimming matters, he's a regular presidential power-plant! One v,ery valuable and pleasing 1 feature of Mclndoe's place at the head of Dunedin's Neptunial affairs is his own talent m the water. Yet a very young man, he Is far from being a back number as an aquatic athlete, and at present holds, With fellow- sportsman Cecil Lewis, the Otago life-saving champ. This nationally important branch of water sports, Mclndoe fosters for all he is worth! . Looking back, we find Jack was with the" big fish m 1922 wtien he gained a third place for Otago m the N.Z. diving championships. Yes, decidedly, the business of Dunedin's mermaids and sea-lions is safe m the hands of this clear-headed, go-to-it, young Neptune.
