At Titirangi's New Golf Links (From "N.Z. Truth's" Special Golf Correspondent.) The Maungakiekie Golf Club now glories m a new course at Titirangi — a real . championship course which excels anything else m the North Island. "THE new course abounds m breakers A and dogs' legs and it demands that every tee' shot be placed to open up the approach to the green. It is a real golf course. The new links were opened with a tournament m which players were not allowed a practice run over the course before the tournament. Rex George, always a deadly putter, was m great form on the new greens which have a beautiful surface, and his first round was covered m 74. George holed out on twelve greens with one putt. His second round of 76 won him the cup and it was certainly a grand performance on such a course. . The carry bunkers from the tee are placed to make the player hit his drives besides placing them. The bunkering will create players of the correct mashie shot. The half fluff along the . ground will now find its proper end — m a bunker. The course is designed to draw forth the finest shots m the game and must m time greatly raise the standard of the play among the golfers who constantly i)lay over, it.
