THE TROTTERS
Poor Entries Up North
(From "N.Z. Truth's" Auckland Rep.) That there is a dearth of decent square-gaiters m and around , Aiiokland the nominations for trotting events for Otahuhu clearly prove.
COR the big two-mile heats on each 1 day respectively, only eight have been entered, and as half this number are visitors' it leaves only four locals to battle for the £400 stake.
. There should be more than a mere handful capable of trotting m 'a 4.42 class.
Unless others are forthcoming to patronise these' events, it is only right that the Q.T.C. should follow m the footsteps- of other metropolitan clubs and tighten up the limits.
It is either that or making the class easier for the benefit of the duds, but that would be a retrograde, step, and viewed from . all angles . would not prove a.successl
A lot has been heard m connection with the tightening up of the classes, but if the required support is not forthcoming, clubs issuing a remunerative programme are left with no, alternative..-, . ;', . ■ " ■ ■''. '■•■■'
