WORSE STILL
Riccarton On The Toboggan
t Another New Zealand Cup meet- . ing is nearly over and it is the same old story. ' . DEDUCED attendances and a shrink- . ,age ■m "tote" turnover has once again to be recorded. / • There was a fair crowd there, on Cup jflay, .but it was a thousand >lesa than last year. . ; . - 'When it 'came time to add up the total investments for the day it was found that there was a decrease of just under £3600. -. •; Derby Day was a dismal- one for the club;' The crowd was thin and the money missiner, another ■ decrease of £3500 being chalked up. That there is some reason for this v falling off m patronage is undoubted. . The shortage of cash at the present, time is admitted, but the rodt of the evil is beyond this. Each succeeding meeting- finds the club going- down the hill and it has itself to blame. It will never appeal to the fellow who provides the sinews of war as long as the conservatism that is shown at present is m evidence. Tp get a ticket is like drawing teeth, no matter what degree of right is shown.- - There seems to be some sort of. a social rule m- vogue. If you have blue blood you are all right.
