JACKY MISSED
It Looked Like Bad Handling
(From "N.Z. Truth's" ' Auckland Rep, Though ha won only one race at Auckland, Jackie Audubon, driven with better judgment, would have
clicke'H at least twice. ASTUTE followers of the game were amazed at the methods adopted by Driver Kennerley, who -has the reputation of being a polished reihsman, for the manner m which, he handled the son of Great Audubon. ' .
From a good position m the Alexandra Park Handicap, he drifted back and at the half-mile peg was on the rails behind a bunch of six.
He finished like a, train, but had no show of doing better than getting fifth berth, going 4.32 4/5. Similar tactics were adopted m the mile and a- quarter Campbell Handicap and "Jackie" was allowed to remain m. the rear.
He Had to come wide at the- last bend and, simply flying, went under by a neck to Jewel Pointer.
Admittedly he was stopped a hundred yards from the post, but that further bears out the contention that had his undoubted speed been made more use of earlier m the events referred to the southerner would have been first home.
Jackie Audubon packs the neces-
sary and a ton of it, too, but either Kennerley under-estimates Jewel Pointer's ability or opines "Jackie" is a flying machine.
"N.Z. Truth's" opinion is that Jackie Audubon is a top-notcher and will, when handled m a' manner m keeping with a reinsman lauded as knowing his onions, enter top-notch class with a wallop.
