ONCE AGAIN
Young Arnst Wheel Prodigy (From "N.Z. Truth's" Christchurch Rep.) 4 The Arnsts have come back with a vengeance into the cycling world; through the agency of a younger member of the tribe. THE sensation caused by his disquali- * flcation by the Papanui Sports Club for having accepted motor pace when he won- the Round-the-Gorges amateur cycle race the previous Saturday had barely died down before young. Arnst was pushing his .way home, through wind and dust, at the head of the Timaru* to Christchurch race. Arnst, who is 19, has only taken the game on this season, but -he is a real champion. He gives; the credit of his win to veteran Phil O'Shea.'twice winner of the race and six. times credited with fastest time, who coached him. Arnst's nomination was not lodged until after his disqualification by the amateur club which staged the Round-the-Gorges race, and what his position is now with the professional body is a moot point. ...
S. W. McCann, of . New Plymouth, rode a great race under bad conditions, to gain fastest time, of 6hrs. 38mins. 46secs., which is the best time recorded since Phil O'Shea's shrs. 14mins. 58secs. m 1913.
