BEST IN YEARS
Union Rowers Have Great Chance
(From "N.Z. Truth's" Wanganui Rep.) Though rowing m the Dominion
may not be as good as it used to
be, it is safe to say that the Union
(Wanganui) • crew is one of the
best that has represented New Zealand for many years. TTHQSB who saw the light blues rowing last March were not greatly impressed, but on recent f orm the crew is much better this season- — a really good crew, taking the measure from the best standard.
Clarrie Healey, one of the finest oarsmen m the world, leads theni, ana if they strike form m Melbourne it will take a fine crew to beat them.
A. R. C. Jackson, the champion sculler, will have to miss Henley- on -Tarra. He was disappointed, but enough funds could not be raised to send the, four and a sculler.
Jackson will spare no effort m keeping thoroughly fit for the N.S.W. championship at Sydney on December 22. .
At Henley-on-Yarra, Melbourne, all races will be rowed over a mile course, but at Sydney, the full course, probably on the Nepean, will be rowed.
The general opinion is that Jackson will be better suited by the longer distance (three miles and over) than would b© the case m a mile race.
