D'ye Ken, Ross?
UUORE!"— and "Fore!" again— beA cause you're right m front of one of the skilful golfers of the Dominion— Dr. Kenneth Ross, of Dunedin, "whose club-heads have been periodically hammering at the inner chambers of the New Zealand championship since 1913. y , This week eyes of all golfing enthusiasts are focussed upon doings at the Dunedin links, where king-pins and queen-pegs of the cleek and niblick are again crossing clubs for championship honors. In view of his past performances and consistent style, it" will not be surprising for golf/-goers to hear Ross declared Lord of the Links. Golf was born m Scotland — so was K.R., his birth-bunker being located at a rugged little northern spot' called Tain. ■ But Ross wasn't born with a golf "spoon" m his mouth any more than it was a hockey-stick or a cricket bat, or. -for that matter— though it sounds rather -an impossible teething implement—a soccer footbal]! And when he left Aberdeen University, where he graduated m medicine and art, the colors of a Scottish International hockey player were prominent on his all-round sportsman's riband, which landed m New Zealand with him m 1910. Scotland always seems to make a thorough job — such as its Barleycorns and Bagpipes, both of which are superlatively competent m their respective objects — and Kenneth Ross Is a fair example of Scottish manhood—tenacious, even-headed and straight to the point. If Ross can "hole- out" at the top of the competition, we'll be with him to oelebrat© at the nineteenth holt. j
