Airy Doug.
STATION 4XA, Dunedin, has the name of being ahead of the other three centres m the selection of broadcast evening programmes; and if it isn't also to the fore m regard to putting football on the*ethereal way, we'd like to hear of a more capable sporting announcer" than Doug. Thomson. For the past couple, of years Doug^ has been "doing" the. footer for station 4YA. And, let -us hasten to add, "doing it well." His eagle-eye and appropriate descriptiveness mop up every instance of the game like a phono- vacuum -cleaner. Peering over the top of his microphone Thompson pours the play over the welkin to the thousands of listeners-in who know their "Doug." by his periodical and fitting spice of humor which seems to be ever on the tip ,of his tongue. D.T. is a .well-known figure about Dunedin. Bright, breezy, happy-go-lucky Doug., who, if "laugh . and grow fat" were an infallible adage, would be something the size of a miniature dirigible. >
