First Sight Then Comes Home - . ■ ■- ■ ■ ■■ i (From "N.Z. Truth's" Christchurch 1 Rep.) • The convincing manner m which First Sight scored at Ashburton on Saturday emphasizes how unlucky were his August supporters. HE was backed to a short price m the Farewell, and his customary playfulness at the post cost him many lengths when the tapes went up. : He was last to move and was ■ giving Silver Coot a big start. ' Doug. Cotton made up his ground gradually, and when they turned for* home the Gay Lad gelding was putting m some great work. ; He appeared to have them whacked, but inside the distance Silver ..Coot came again and , First Sight had to be ■bustled up to shake Jack Pine's gelding off. ; .- Nevertheless, First Sight was full of running, and if he had got away with the field it is only a shame what he would have done with them. . He was further handicapped through the cap from Bupyant's jockey coming across his eyes. . . . He carried it for about two furlongs; and during that time was running about a lot until Cotton shifted it further down on his nose. . • ■■■""., First Sight is not a good traveller, and his fretful habits away • from home might always leave him a doubtful quantity. , However, he is becoming more amenable to the patient handling of J. Russell, who has him looking m great fettle. . '.• ■
