Equine Enthusiast

MANY years ago, Herbert W. Burch was a sheep-farmer, but— -being a wise man— he got. out of the game at the right time for something which, if not more lucrative, is at least as good a proposition. "Herb.," as he is known to his intimates, is a man with 'very many friends, both inside the sporting circle and out of it — ra man who takes a personal and attentive interest m those matters which most particularly affect his walk m life. He is devoted to the Sport of Kings and is the owner of that speedy galloper, Stormy, which at one stage of its career was the centre of considerable "mystery" publicity and has some great wins to' its credit both here and m Aussie. Not only is the owner .of Stormy a keen follower of the gallopers, but his equine hobby has embraced the' more modern sport of trotting. • As an indication of that enthusiasm ■ — and what his fellows think of him— he has just recently been elected the president of the Waikato Trotting Club. There's nothing flash or showy about him, but his quiet manner and cheerfully tolerant demeanor are a true index to his disposition.
