TWO THAT CAN TRAVEL

Fillies From Chokebore Are Going All Right

(From "N.Z. Truth's" Special Dunedin Representative.) When the brilliant filly, Childsplay, finished up last season under a cloud she left a doubt whether she was capable of going any further than six furlongs.

'THE hollow victories she scored m 1 the McLean, Wellesley and ; Welcome Stakes, before going down to Staghunter m the G.N. Foal Stakes, stamped her as a filly of rare class. But as tho tracks hardened, so Childsplay faded out of the picture. Attention is again focussed on her m her first start this season, which will be at Wingatui next month. N She has been nominated m the open six on both days, and she also appears m the Guineas on the second day. Chokebore Lodge has other nominations, including Prickles, but there Is no indication at present whether one or both will contest the southern classic. Childeplay's work over six furlongs at Riccarton has been bordering on brilliancy. Last Saturday she was given an extra furlong, and, with the assistance of Impertinence over the last halfmile, she scorched home m 1.29 4/6. : The Autumnus filly has been stretching out boldly m her work,

; and there seems no reason to believe that the mile race will be of very much trouble to her. Especially is this so m the absence of any really outstanding youngster among the two-year-olds of last season. The stable, also holds another trump pard with Prickles, which has been almost as Impressive as Childsplay m her work. Prickles came to hand slowly aa a two-year-old, and m the autumn she achieved a brilliant success m the Champagne Stakes at Riccarton. . Her finishing run m this event indlaated that she would play a prominent part In this season's three-year-old classics. She has made such progress In her work so far that she must be taken into account. Sir George Clifford has already won the Dunedin Guineas on six occasions, and with Childsplay and Prickles he holds a strong hand m this year's event.
