CONSIDERATION WORTHY

Cry From Far North Should Be Thought of First (From "N.Z. Truth's" Special Auckland Representative.) A lot of opposition has been voiced from business heads m the past regarding country racing and trotting clubs being allowed to race on city tracks, but it is open to question whether any great material financial damage has resulted to those who have shown their disapproval.

IT is certain that the city gatherings have helped to keep many country clubs out of financial trouble, besides aiding those favored clubs m bringing their • own tracks up to present-day requirements. It is admitted the tendency of country clubs to race on city tracks could be overdone. However/the practice is almost at an end, for the onlyi club granted the right is Dargaville, which was fortunate m gaining permission to race at Avondale before the edict that no further favors m that direction wduld be granted went forth. It is Just as well for country clubs to realize the true facta m future, and thus race within their means. One .club which considers it has some claim for consideration — If there happens to be any relaxing of present conditions — is Waipapakauri, m the Far North.

This club boasts having at the helm some really good sports. Also, it has a track which will compare favorably with other country race-paths. 1 It has already held race . meetings away from home at Whangarei" and Kawa Kawa, but unfortunately the finance reaped from those fixtures hardly came up to expectations. In fact, il was infinitesimal, and they now claim they should have been granted the same opportunity as Whangarei and other northern club's. These clubs have been aided m their financial difficulties by being granted city permits. It would seem that Waipapakauri is up against it at present, but if there is any. relaxing of present conditions, It is to be ly>ped the claim being made by the Far North sportsmen will come m for favorable consideration.
