ALL OUT FOR VICTORY

Radford Will Endeavor To Stop LeckieV Winning Run When Johnnie Leckie was adjudged winner over Norman Radford at Dunedin recently there were a goodly number who failed to see eye. for eye with the verdict.

TN fact, m some places the vote to Leckie was decidedly unpopular and included m this bunch were those * immediately connected with Radford. The Radford /action wanted another fight — but not m Dunedin. There was talk of side-wagers if a contest could be arranged elsewhere. Then the Leckie camp came m. They were prepared to fight Radford again, when and where he liked, and, as to a side-wager, the money would be there on the doorstep. Several associations were anxious to stage the return battle and it fell to Wellington to be the lucky one. An inquiry to the Otago body resulted m the two lads being signed up, and now they are scheduled to meet at the Town Hall on September, 17. "Leckie, since he met Radford, has knocked out Tommy Barber . — . — l_ — (. : .

and" he meets the same gentleman again this week at Invercargill. Radford, however, has been idle, but this may not be the handicap many would imagine it to be. . • Radford is an extremely clever fighter and, when he is allowed to get m close, he is liable to beat the best m the land. What he does not know about the tricks of in-fighting is . not worth knowing, but at Wellington he will find that the referee is not at all partial to an excess of close stuff. Leckie, a great long range scrapper, is not exactly an imbecile when it comes to getting close, but his style makes him far more the dangerous boy when at arm's length. The fight is yet eleven days off, but* it is the topic. of Wellington and the house should be one of the best on record. ;
