TRIO ENTERED
But Little Hope For Them (From" N.Z.- Truth's" Special Auckland Rep.) -Three Aucklanders figure m the nominations for the New Zealand Cup. pRANK LOOMB has entered both 1 Desert Glow and Prodice, while Tidal's entry came as a bit of a surprise to those who have observed him m action. He is a French-bred horse im- .- ported to this country by Elliot Davis and failed repeatedly m the hack class last season.' On these performances it hardly augurs well' for his New Zealand Cup prospects. He is certainly of large enough proportions to stand the strain, but if he develops into real Cup class then even those who know him best may express some surprise. Desert Glow once ran second m the big G"P. hut he is getting along m years and can hardly be on the improve these days. Prodice may certainly develop reasonable staying powers as a three-year-old, for as a juvenile the Avondale Stakes winner proved more than useful. Her prospects appear the most rosy of the trio of northerners at the present stage. However, the odds seem greatly against the prize coming north.
