HAVE TO WAIT
HAD THE WORK
Carinthia's Brother Goes Fast (From" N.Z. Truth's" Special Auckland Rep.) There is a brother to Carinthia m work under E. Pope at Takanini which it was hoped some little time back to have ready for the Avondale Stakes. HOWEVER, the fates were not kind, for the colt knocked himself m front during active capers m the paddock at his training quarters. This necessitated attention, oare, and a stoppage m his preparation. Therefore, it may be that he cannot be thoroughly strung up for the first real classic two -year -old event of the season. " • When "N.Z. Truth" inspected him during last week the real trouble seemed over, but, nevertheless, no risks will be taken m hurrying the juvenile. His . full-brother, Carinthia, was speedy as a two-yar-old, though it was late- m the season before he actually won a race. He could go fast m private, and there is reason to believe that Pope's charge may go even faster still. , He is owned by M. "J. Lynch, who has hopes that the colt may develop into a sire worthy of the name. He is certainly possessed of plenty of activity at this stage of his career. miimminimiiii mm minim nun i mm mini
Bulolo and Monetize Can Move (From "N.Z. . Truth's" Special Auckland Rep.) Most Ellerslie track-watchers fully expected to note both Bulolo and Monetize taking on the early spring meetings at Marton and Wanganui. THEY had been kept going all the •7 winter and certainly gave the impression that they may have done well over short courses early m the season. They would, perhaps, have caught several of the others just a bit backward. It transpires that Bulolo is a bit taller than most people imagined, for, when measured recently, he proved to be over fifteen hands. Nevertheless, Bulolo ha,s no great proportions and it may be a case of careful placing. In the right class and on short courses the chestnut may get his share of the stakes on offer. Monetize is one of the Paper Money family. v ' . He is developing nicely, and this member of the Potter stable is being looked for by some to pay the oat bill more so than Bulolo. And this', despite the speed displayed by the latter In last autumn's juvenile events at T© Rapa. iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiuiuuiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinmiiuiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiimi
