NOT FOR HIM
Red Fuchsia Does Not Win If ever a horse looked like winning a race at the National mooting it was Red Fuchsia. THE majority of support came his •*■ way for the Grand National Hurdles and it was his chance that was liked, not that of his bracket-mate, Peneus. But all the All Red gelding could do was to run third to Nukumai and Gaze. The last day the two -mile distance was thought to be his pet theory and the public went for him again. The pace that Craigmore set soon had him tied m a knot— as it did the rest of the fielfl — and once again Bed Fuchsia was third. No excuses can be offered for the two failures and it is reasonable to expect that one of two things brought about his defeats. Firstly, he is a young horse — six last foaling — and he has . had a pretty strenuous time over the last twelve months, though he actually has / not been knocked about. Then there is the other consideration — he is by All Red, and that horse's progeny have never been noted as great stayers. However, there is hope for Red Fuchsia next winter and with a year on to him he may be a different horse I altogether.
