He has a; lot of pace and' when he hangs on a little longer he .will win one. * # # MORTH ISLANDERS expected Locarno to come home m the Cashmere Plate on Tuesday, but he didn't. The gelding was asked to cover a lot of unnecessary ground, to say the least of it. • # • W/AIHEMO has any amount of early " speed, but he cannot keep it up. He led early at Riccarton on Tuesday and then died out when the pressure was applied. # # # THE race that Roi de Val had down A south on Tuesday would do him a lot of good. He looked In need of it, and oh his showing he will soon win a race. • # * THE long spell of fine weather recent--1 ly experienced has been taken advantage of by F. Tilley to give his team for Marton and Wanganui some solid work. The Fordell .mentor will take three or four to Marton and will have a big string at Wanganui.
