Track Alterations Up North

(From "N.Z. Truth's" Special Auckland Rep.) 4 - .' Good progress is being made .with the work of filling m the dip between the five and six furlong posts -at Ellerslie. THE wet weather last week hampered operations somewhat. A section of the work has already been completed, and a fair amount of the new turf put down. Next winter the crown of the rise near the five-furlong post will be lowere.d. a couple of feet. This will make an even grade into the -new piece of track that was laid down last year. The new. portion is carrying a good sole of grass and will be a great improvement when absorbed into the course. It will be used for the first time at the next summer. carnival.' Ellerslie will be a wonderfully improved course when the whole scheme of improvements is complete.
