BOXERS BOTH
Purdy and Carroll Step^Gut
There is every prospect of a pretty good sort of a boxing match at Wellington to-night. MATCHED are Jaok Carroll, welter ■ champloh of Australia and Charlie Purdy, holder of the Australasian light emblem. Carroll, m his first up showed he could box, but his right hand thump was a missing quantity. Perhaps Jack was not able to give of his best after that rough trip he had across, but he should be up to concert pitch to-night. He will need to be, for all. tell us that Purdy has Improved out of sight since he was last seen m New Zealand. He is now a pugnacious sort of a cuss and does not stand off as heretofore. When a boxer changes over to a puncher he loses some of his pace and if this has happened with Purdy it will bring the pair together. * That the public appreciate the matching of the two Is evident from the big booking and to-night should see the biggest crowd bf the year m attendance.
