AN EXTRA DAY
Allocation Causes Some Talk (From "N.Z. Truth's" Special Auckland Rep.) Whangarei, being granted one of the floating tote permits has aggrieved other clubs. ; THE club most peeved is Taumarunui, ■ mainly because .the floating' permit came about through [Waimarino's inability to form a club strong enough to carry on with the privilege granted. Waim'arinb adjourns the Taumarunui district,, and it seems the latter's. chance of securing the extra day was lost permanently when these two clubs failed to amalgamate and thereby claim .the extra day for all >time. As a matter of fact, all the northern clubs had some claim on the extra day. - In particular, there were Franklin and Matamata, which are at present without the necessary grand-stand buildings' to provide patrons against ■bad weather conditions. This must not be taken to mean that Whangarei has no claim to any extra days it can grasp; ■■ > As a matter of, fact, Whangarei: is centred m a progressive district and the racing heads there are of the right stamp to command attention. : They also have necessary improvements to make to bring their racing rendezvous wp to requirements.- ':■■ The extra day will probably help them to achieve their objective.
