WAS MISSING
Took His Hook Till Iwas lime A maiden steeplechaser was produced at Trentham the second day and he went an extremely good race. TN fact, had he not got into a fence ■*• near home he would have seriously troubled the winner. This was Askari — the horse that started Tom Gireen on his' road. On the following day Holey Hatch, when asked by "N.Z. Truth" how his horse was, replied he did not know. Then he explained that on the evening before, Askari had got out of 'his paddock, by some means or other, and that he was on the reported missing list. • Nothing was heard of him, and Green volunteered the information he had gone home to Awapuni— by way of Moonshine, or the Akatarawas he could not say! . ' It was getting toWards race time on Saturday morning when back to his headquarters came Askari — he had been found down m the camp grounds. There was not a mark on him, the only sign of his escapade being that' his cover was a bit awry. ■ Hatch reckons that Askari heard the tote bells ringing and that brought him back to the fold. . "He knew I couldn't start him after he had had two nights, and a day out!" '.-■■.-
