Rattling Bonnet

AFTER a prolonged period of . service some cars develop a very annoying rattle m the bonnet. Generally this is due to the packing strips on which the upper part of the bonnet rests, having flattened out or worn down. : The noise can be readily stopped, either by inserting fresh pieces of packing, or if existing ones are still' serviceable, by packing them up with leather, with strips of rubber or linoleum, until they are of such a height that the bottom edge of the bonnet just clears the board on which it rests.
