AUGUST OFF TO AUSSIE
Team Includes Likely Candidate For Derby Honors (From "N.Z. Truth's" Special Auckland Representative.) AS previously mentioned m "N.Z. Truth," S. August contemplated a trip to Aussie.
"THIS developed into a reality last 1 week, when he hopped the steamer at Auckland and took Hori Dillon, Lord LiU and the two-year-old filly, Alice Axworthy, along with him. This trio will keep him out of mischief. If the breeze comes his way, they may make the journey a good one from the financial viewpoint. All the same, whether or not they fail, the trip is a shrewd move on August's part, for his charges will get plenty of racing and training on a decent winter track such as would not have been obtainable m the north. It is a well-known fact' that Alice Axworthy has shown sufficient promise
to" regard her Great Northern and Melbourne Derby prospects m a hopeful light. While other candidates for northern blue-ribbon honors will be up against it to get the work to put them solid, she will be able to have her fill. No doubt it is through the filly that the trip eventuated. If she packs the necessary speed, she should not want for the right condition on Derby day m October. With "Alice" to represent Auckland, as well as Trustworthy, another Mangereite which has shown promising form, ther^e should be a chance of the classic honors remaining" m the Queen Oity of the North.
