Feilding's Friend
THOUGH he first saw the light of day m Wanganui, Tom Collins, who will very soon celebrate his 25th year of residence m Feilding, is a staunch Feildihgite, who always strives mightily for the betterment of his adopted town — and everything, and everyone therein. This, m part, explains Tom's popularity with his townspeople, for his
persistency m fighting for the progress of his town and its inhabitants has earned him a large circle of friends. Tom has two hobbles— "toeball and noise" — which", when interpreted, mean Rugby and tfand music. For the past ten years he has been a vice-presi-dent of the Manawatu governing body and has occupied a similar position on the Manawhenua Union since its inception. His efforts on behalf of football m Feilding are
worthy of the highest commendation, for, although he has often had to worry the life out o_ the Manawatu executive, the flne new grandstand which adorns Johnston Park, Feilding, is a monument to his progresslveness and persistency. An active borough councillor, a doer rather than an orator, T.C. is- often found m the judge's box, where he has earned a reputation for impartiality.
