Peacock's Plumes
UQERVICE before self. He profits O most who serves the best." It was long before pledging himself to the ethical 'code of Rotary that H. Maurice Peacock appreciated the meaning of that motto and the value, of true v community spirit. "Charlie," as he is known to his Rotary friends, believes that a man can and should serve his community m other directions than in y merely extracting troublesome molars. A mine of pithy comment and utterances of wisdom, he has served the town of Masterton well as a councillor, while, with that fellow feeling that makes us wondrous kind, he keeps a watchful eye towards the real objects of charity. These qualities are the basis of a large part of his popular reputation m the dry capital of the Wairarapa. As a lover of justice, liberty and concord, he sets a good example as one of the chief cogs m the Rotary wheel m Masterton. Altogther, a good citizen is "Charlie."
