Dash In Dare

FOR the first time since he departed from this sea.cleft Dominion, Eric

Dare is back

Even as a youth he was enlisted m the ranks of the romantics and when the war came he diverged his penchant for the unusual by scrabbling over the bunkers of the Maheno m 'return for his passage to Australia.

Desertion, from the ship at Albany was but the first step along the highway of mature adventure, for a tightened belt and a vacuous stomach fell to his lot for some months, ere he was able to join the hard-bitten ranks of ari Aussie motor transport corps, headed for Flanders.

From thence to the flying corps, with an aeroplane joystick forming a perilously thin partition between a zestful life and ghastly death; working m English electrical' factories* which manufactured apparatus for the War Office; turning his propensities for variety m the variegated monotony we call life,. into hard . work., behind Australian footlights after : the; war; radio magazine editor — and- a few other tilings besides.

Now, he is married, and also manager of the sales promotion division of the Philips lamp organization m. Sydney. ■'•, '-,-■■

"N.Z. Truth" encountered this interesting chap a few. days ;ago, and, having heard much about him before the time came for an introduction,' was glad to find that success had not palpably increased the length of his hatband. •
