QTRATHNAVER is a good-looking O quitter, but might do tetter if allowed to-run along, in front. ' * • ■ * ■ . Puff's goldflelds form worked out right on the third day at Wingatui, but she is a doubtful stayer. #' * • Malmsey can scamper, but she could not do her best at Dunedin owing to a sore heel. She will win races this winter over a distance, "for she likes it sloppy and stays on. ## . • Zaragoza was galloped on at Amberley and was unable to show her true form at Wingatui. She is well and will soon be in the money. **. • . King Balboa was an expensive horse tp the public, but he Is well and can be supported confidently when he strikes a dry track. *..■••' ■ ■■* Scion scored his first success over hurdles by winning the Greenfield Hurdles. He is to be taken on chance, however, at any distance beyond two miles. # * # Antrim Boy was not suited by the holding going. He likes it either dry or boggy. He was only two necks away from paying the machine in the closing handicap at Wingatui, being fifteenth favorite in a sixteen-horse -field. The track was drying out and getting faster. It was the only occasion in his four starts at the meeting that he was really at home. Coastguard has been a useful horse Cor George Feilding. Last year he won the two open hurdle races at the winter meeting, while this year he took the Jumpers' Flat and the Otago Hurdles. Meadow Lark, one of the first of Songbird's stock to win a race, can travel for six furlongs, but is small and does not like top much weight. ■ # "■ •• • * Traction, a well-grown daughter of Tractor and old Droski, is coming to hand nicely. »■.'#. • Jovial is the makings of a. serviceable 'chaser.. He jumps courageously and has tc/> much pace for the average jumper on the flat. " :: .{ # # * Pamplona was the best jumper out at Wingatui, but he was patched up for his only engagement, and after winning handsomely ho returned to the enclosure on three legs. He looks like being out for a good while.
