ANOTHER DAY?
Waikato Deserves Consideration (From N.Z. Truth's" North Island Rep.) Trotting and pacing m the Waikato has improved to a considerable extent. THE Waikato Trotting Club haa done •*■ much to popularize the sport of the gaited animal and haa provided enthusiasts with, decent, grounds and oppointments at Claudelands. New courses cannot he laid out and stands erected for a few pounds, and now the club has decided that their financial position will need .reviewing, although the position is not considered serious. Revenue is derived from meetings, and it is evidently the club's opinion that now they have such liabilities, an extra day's permit should be allotted them. This week .delegates were ,to put the matter before the Prime Minister on his visit" to Hamilton. Whether the Waikato body will be successful m its appeal remains to be seen, but if any extra permits are to be issued then the club is certainly deserving of one. Successful or riot, the Waikato Trotting officials must be given credit for approaching "Gordon" at the right time — that is, if they should request an answer before November next.
