FIRST DAY

Form That May Be Some Help (From "N.Z. Truth's" Special Auckland Rep.) Form m the Hunters' Hurdles at Ellerslie usually throws some ligeit on the prospects of competitors m the Hunt Cup Steeplechase. THE cross-country event is -run on the *■' middle day of the fixture. Of course, if Glendowie remains m the two and a-half miles on Monday next, he may spoil the hunters' race. However, he will probably get out and tacKle the harder Great Northern job. Of the remainder, Importer, Geyserland and Mashoor , are the most likely trio to provide the winner — this, of course, if Ballyfarnon does not come north for competition. It is always on the cards that form m the Hunte.rs' Hurdles on Saturday will throw fresh light on the Hunt Cup Steeplechase. The exhibitions made by Importer and Geyserland. on Saturday should certainly decide which of the pair will start favorite .if Glendowie is found missing.
