IT ENDS WELL
Results Are What Count (From "N.Z. Truth's" Dunedin Rep.) When" Charlie Hassall was appointed handicapper by the Dunedin Club to frame the weights for the winter meeting, there was a wail. THE principal b.one of contention was that Hassall had not seen the hor.ses out at Southland and Riverton. When the handicaps were declared, there was the usual encore wail. However, an analysis of the acceptances for the meeting indicates that the owners are quite. satisfied. It is only m the case of a few hunters that no reason can be advanced for their .defection. All the other non-acceptors .can be accounted for. The heaviest defection was eight from the Winter Handicap, but all, with the exception of Bronstell, are engaged m other races. It is quite apparent that there were no scratchings on account of the handicapping. And the punters still ha"Ye the lifelong problem of picking them.
