PERSISTENCY'S REWARD

Third Time Finds Mclnnes The Winner

(By Cable. — From "N.Z. Truth's" Special Sydney^ Representative.) The reward of persistency came the way of Tom Mclnnes last Saturday night at the Sydney Stadium.

HE clearly defeated Johnny Sullivan m a tough fought fifteen-rounder. The boys had met on two previous occasions. The first time it was m London and Sullivan won on points, but Mac. sustained a badly gashed eyebrow. A few weeks back they met in> Sydney for the second time and the Scot was disqualified for low hitting m the thirteenth round. . Saturday last, on the third occasion, Mclnhes made no mistake. He just rolled m at Sullivan during every second.

He refused to allow the Irishman to set the pace and fairly overwhelmed his opponent's boxing with sheer fighting spirit. "Sully" fought well m flashes, but hadn't the strength to sustain his worki Every rally saw him break ground. He made a determined bid m the last two sessions and opened up and slugged with the Scot. He did well, but the early lead McInnes had piled up ensured the decision going his way. Sullivan was 11.3% and Mclnnes 10.10%.
