Wilson 's Red Man

T UKE WILSON is the successful JL manager of Stratford's only pic-

ture theatre. Luke gets there by, his extraordinary sense of publicity values. He is a publicist of the bizarre type, but it is not for himself that he seeks the limelight.

In a competiton for the best advertising of pictures for which a prize was donated by an American film firm. Wilson topped the poll so far as New Zealand is concerned.

Many original stunts have been "put over" by him, and on one occasion in a good-natured way he hoaxed the whole town.

Luke found it impossible for some real American Indians to arrive in time for a personal appearance which they were to make at his picture theatre, so he manufactured one of his own.

This "Indian 1 ? who, with feathers and regalia complete, duly arrived at the station, was met by a huge crowd who afterwards filled the theatre for a matinee and night.

The truth did not leak- out for a month, when the hoaxed ones were able to look back and laugh at the episode.

Yes, Wilson is a man who will go far in his line of business.
